Can we use hydrating body lotion as an after sun product?

Updated: Apr 18

If you've been out in the sun all day, it's important to rehydrate your skin as soon as possible. But what if your skin care has already dried up? Can we use hydrating body lotion as an after sun product? Let’s look right into it.

First things first, why is the sun so damaging on the skin?

The sun's rays create free radicals in the skin - an unstable molecule with a single unpaired electron. These molecules try to steal that missing electron from surrounding stable molecules in the skin, which can cause cellular damage. The Sun damages skin cells and weakens their ability to protect against free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage your skin, leading to premature aging and cancer. UV rays can also cause sunburns, freckles, wrinkles and dry skin.

So what to do after your skin has been exposed to the wrath of the sun?

After a day of sun exposure, your skin loses moisture and can become dry. A lotion is a great way to replenish this loss. It can be used in the morning or at night, depending on your personal preferences and the time of day you want to moisturize your skin. And even after a sunny outing to rehydrate your skin.

We recommend using a moisturizing body lotion after you spend the day in the sun. These are great for re-hydrating your skin, but they aren't as thick as body butter or oils and sprays. They also tend to be less greasy than products like body wash or spray, which can make them easier on sensitive skin types who are prone to breakouts from harsh chemicals.

Body oils can clog pores and make your skin more susceptible to infections, so we don't recommend them if you have any kind of acne problem (or even just oily). Body butters contain fat that may cause breakouts if used too often at high concentrations—and again: this doesn't mean all fats are bad! Just use sparingly until you know how your body responds before jumping into something new entirely

As you can see, there are a lot of options when it comes to choosing the best after sun product. The key is to find one that suits your needs and preferences best. For example, if you're looking for an effective product that will help prevent dry skin during summer months, then opt for something like an jojoba oil body lotion for dry skin. This product contains natural oils which help keep your skin hydrated while also protecting against UV damage from the sun's rays.

One side effect of going out in the sun with bare skin is that it not only tans the skin but also inflames it. Anti-inflammatory ingredients can come to your rescue in this case. For example, an aloe vera body lotion for oily skin is extremely light on sun damaged skin and has immense healing and soothing properties.

When you've been in the sun all day, your skin loses moisture. This can make it more susceptible to damage from UV rays, so a lotion is a great way to rehydrate your skin. However, not all lotions are created equal! For example, if you have oily skin and you use a moisturizer for body with a buttery consistency, then you will only create an oily mess on the skin. Similarly, if you have dry skin, you might need something more moisturizing.

An avocado body lotion solves this dilemma for both the skin types with its antioxidant rich profile and healthy fatty acids that help to make either skin type smoother and softer. It also acts as a natural sun protector and UV damage healer which is a win-win for everyone.
